This Privacy Policy explains how Focus Valley ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our website, create an account, purchase a plan, or use the Focus Valley desktop application (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
The data controller is Filippo Pelloia, operating as Focus Valley. For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@focus-valley.com.
2. What we collect
Account data: your email address, used to create and sign in to your account. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address from Google; we do not receive your Google password.
Profile data: the nickname and avatar you choose. If your leaderboard visibility is enabled, these are shown publicly on the world leaderboard together with your weekly score.
Usage data from the app: the focus minutes you earn ("sparks"), your weekly score, and your day streak. We record totals and dates, not the content of your work.
Purchase data: your plan, its status, and renewal date. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy: we never receive or store your full card number or banking details.
Technical data: limited information processed automatically by our infrastructure for security and delivery, such as IP address, browser and device type, and timestamps.
Analytics data: collected via Google Analytics, and only after you accept analytics cookies. See section 7.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive data or data from children.
3. What the desktop app does on your device
To measure real focus time, the app checks how many seconds have passed since your last keyboard or mouse input. This idle check happens locally on your device: the app does not log your keystrokes, does not record what you type or click, and does not read the content of your screen or other applications. Only the resulting totals (sparks, streak, weekly score) are sent to our servers.
Some preferences, such as your chosen timer preset, background, and settings, are stored only on your device and are never sent to us.
4. How we use it
To create and operate your account and sign you in; to run the Service, including scoring, streaks, and the world leaderboard; to process and manage your subscription or lifetime purchase; to send you service emails (such as sign-in codes, purchase confirmations, and important product notices) and, where you agreed to them, launch or update emails; to keep the Service secure and prevent cheating or abuse; to understand and improve usage through analytics; and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Legal bases (EEA / UK, GDPR)
Performance of a contract: creating your account, providing the app and its features, and handling your plan. Consent: marketing emails and non-essential analytics cookies, withdrawable at any time. Legitimate interests: keeping the Service secure, preventing fraud and leaderboard manipulation, and improving the product. Legal obligation: where applicable, for example tax and accounting records held by our payment provider.
6. Storage and security
Account, profile, score, and entitlement data are stored using Supabase, our database and authentication provider, on infrastructure located in the European Union and/or the United States. Our website is hosted on Vercel. We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including access controls that restrict each account to its own records. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure.
7. Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from the app, under Settings, or by emailing support@focus-valley.com: doing so removes your account, your profile, your scores, and your entitlements, and cancels any active subscription. Records that our payment provider must retain for legal and accounting purposes are kept by them under their own policy. Afterwards we delete or anonymize data we no longer need.
8. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies that are necessary for the site to function, for example to keep you signed in. Fonts are self-hosted, so loading a page does not by itself send your data to third parties.
We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them in our cookie banner: until then, analytics storage is disabled and your IP address is anonymized. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by clearing the site data in your browser and choosing again.
9. Sharing
We share data only with the service providers that help us run the Service: Supabase (database and authentication), Lemon Squeezy (payments and merchant of record), Resend (email delivery), Vercel (website hosting), and Google Analytics (usage analytics, after consent). We may also disclose data where required by law, or as part of a business transfer. We never sell your data.
If your leaderboard visibility is on, your nickname, avatar, and weekly score are visible publicly to other users of the Service. You can turn this off in the app under Privacy Settings.
10. International transfers
We operate internationally, so your information may be processed outside your country, including the EU and the US. Where data leaves the EEA/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port your data, and to withdraw consent (EEA/UK, GDPR). California residents (CCPA/CPRA) may request to know, access, delete, and correct their information and to opt out of sale/sharing (we do not sell or share). Similar rights may apply in other regions. You can delete your account and its data directly from the app; for anything else, email support@focus-valley.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
12. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and will revise the date above. Significant changes may be communicated by email where appropriate.
